We all have our own little coffee rituals in the morning, whether from a machine or brewed by hand. It's important to have a great brew to start your day. If you’re new to brewing or want to switch things up you’re in the right place, as we’re going through our favourite ways to make a quick and easy brew going out the door.
If you're passionate about V60 brewing but find the dripper setup too much hassle for your morning routine, you should check out the Hario V60 Brew Assist. This compact accessory attaches atop your existing V60 dripper, functioning as a shower screen to evenly distribute water flow. With its clever design, pouring on either ring of the screen results in varying water dispersion rates. Plus, there's no requirement for a gooseneck kettle; any kettle will suffice, streamlining your morning ritual for added convenience and efficiency! It’s a very cost effective method of simplifying your brewing if you’ve already got a V60 setup, & is something we’re starting to see more of for brewing out and about!
Fresh into 3fe, the Ceado Hoop is a real front runner when it comes to quick and easy brewing. We’ve been really enjoying using the Hoop here at the roastery. This is a great entry way for beginner brewing enthusiasts, as well as those who want a simple brewing approach for sleepy mornings. Again, brewing this way doesn’t require a gooseneck kettle, the Hoop simply side holes at the bottom of the Flow Tower that allow the water to filter its way into the coffee grounds. Once you’re finished your brew, removing the coffee grounds is as simple as unscrewing the water tower and out pops the discarded grounds. Keep an eye out for this brewer, we think it’s going to be very popular.
Whether you’ve not got a coffee brewer, or want something new to make your mornings run smoother, then the Tricolate may be your answer. Coming out of Australia, the Tricolate combines ease of use & higher extraction rates. The Tricolate is a shower screen type device, designed to disperse water evenly across an 80mm wide flat brew bed. Again, no need for any fancy kettle, simply pour using any kettle and you’ll get an even distribution. We love this because not only is it simple, but it’s easy to clean. The only way to describe cleaning a Tricolate is like a French Press, but with an 80mm paper filter that helps pop out the waste coffee. If you’re out looking for something for brewing when traveling, remember that the Tricolate can be packed away with little to no effort!
The Clever Coffee Dripper provides the infusion benefits akin to those of a French Press, offering ease of preparation with minimal fuss. With the paper filter disposing the coffee grounds swift & clean, a handy feature for those constantly pressed for time. You’ll find the Clever Coffee Dripper produces a satisfying cup with little effort, just make sure you dial in your grind setting so the dripper drains without any stalling. If you’re experimenting with the taste profile, try adjusting the level of agitation until it's tasting right for you.
The Aeropress needs no introduction, it’s a fantastic all round brewer and is known for being super versatile. Compared to the previous brewers, with the Aeropress you’ll experience more variants and can play around with loads of different recipes to keep you on your toes. For a quick morning brew however, the Aeropress can be a little time consuming. It’s definitely not difficult to get a good cup from, but you need to grind finer, so if you’re using a hand grinder this can be somewhat time consuming. Cleaning is a breeze though, just open the cap and pop the waste coffee and paper filter right into the bin. If you’re brewing using the inverted method you’ll run into the risk of making a mess, so take a moment to compose yourself before you start! Still, it’s a sure way to get a fantastic brew, and if you have an Aeropress, try to find a recipe that’s easy for you when you’re rushing in the morning.
Perhaps the cleanest & quickest way of getting an espresso shot at home is from an Opal One Coffee Pod Machine. The Opal One has a silicone chamber to combat unwanted dilation that you’ll find in other coffee pod machines. What sets it apart from competitors is that it can be set for Light Roast coffee pods, with variable temperature & shot weight options you can customise the machine to produce quick pod coffee the way you want it. For espresso coffee machines, it’s got a small footprint so you won’t lose too much counter space!
Wilfa Classic Tall Coffee Maker
