Who are you, what do you do and what do you love about your city?
I’m Matt and I’m one of the cofounders at Hard Lines, a roastery and cafe here in Cardiff. I love the city for its balance of green space, friendly people and exciting independent scene.

Hard Lines, I hope is seen as one of Wales’s leading roasters. Trying to do things right with coffee, creativity and community at its core.
Place for coffee?

Place for Brunch?
Come to us (Hard Lines) for a delicious breakfast burrito.
Ground Bakery for the best bacon in the city.
A place for lunch?
Head to Cardiff Market for pizza at Ffwrnes.
Kerala fried chicken and chips at Tuk Tuk.
One Place for Beer?
Flute and Tankard is by far my favourite pub in the city.
One Place for Wine?
Nighthawks is a lovely little spot.
A Casual Dinner?
Brother Thai, I love it. If you go on a Sunday they do a special which always blows me away.
If you’re fond of a snack?
Sit on the bar at Bacareto, grab a glass of wine and snack away.
Fine Dining?
Gorse have just won the city’s first Michelin star and it’s great value.
Cultural activity?
The museum always has lovely exhibitions or if you can make it out to St Fagans that’s a real treat.
Where to stay?
Canton/Pontcanna. Lovely selection of independents, markets and walking distance to the centre.

City Road is full of delicious food.
What not to do?
Don’t go around shouting ‘owww, what’s occurrin.'
Best time to visit?
When the sun is shining. Makes all the lovely walks much nicer.
Best Atmosphere?
City centre on a Match day.
One fitness activity
Cardiff has exploded with run clubs so you’re never short on a group to join.
Check out CDF Runners on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays or join the Hard Lines run club on a Thursday.
Best View?
Climb the Garth Mountain for a great view across Cardiff then stop off at The Gwaelod Y Garth Inn to refuel.
