The Rev Zero uses 83 mm Red Speed coated flat burrs (RSZ83), rated for ~4 tonnes of coffee and it is engineered for flavor clarity and consistency to preserve volatile compounds and reduce flavor carryover between doses. It incorporates systems such as GTM (Grounds Temperature Management), Sweep-Out, Steady Lock, and WAM (Weight Adjustment Module) to coordinate dosing, temperature control, retention control, and burr expansion compensation.

Flavor & Consistency

  • Very fine control over grind particle size leads to stable extraction and balanced cups.
  • Minimal retention ensures fresh dosing and reduced cross-contamination between coffees.

Grounds Temperature Management

  • 2.5 kg heat sink around the burrs to absorb and dissipate heat.
  • Insulated shaft and separation between motor and burr system to reduce heat transfer.
  • Active internal airflow for stabilizing temperature during heavy throughput.

Steady Lock / Thermal Compensation

  • A counter-expansion mechanism acts opposite to burr expansion due to heat, maintaining consistent burr gap under load.

Retention / Clean Dosing (Sweep-Out)

  • Designed to push ~99 % of the ground coffee into the portafilter.
  • Retention ~2 g, much lower than many other grinders (which might retain 9–13 g).

Noise & Vibration Reduction

  • Heavy 2.5 kg grinding chamber adds mass and damping.
  • Rubber isolation rings, motor suspension, and separation from burrs reduce vibration transfer.

Ease of Maintenance & Cleaning

  • Burr chamber opens with 3 screws; no recalibration needed after reassembly.
